Band vs. Orchestra

Recently, we spoke about a band vs. an orchestra.

We do understand that there are more than one type of band. There are concert bands, jazz bands, rock band, and marching bands. There are even more types of bands. The concert band is an ensemble that sits nicely on stage and plays music. The band has large groups of woodwinds, brass, and percussion. This is what a concert band looks like:


An orchestra is different from a band because the sections of woodwinds (2 per instrument) and brass (about 4 per instrument) are much smaller than those of a band. The percussion section is similar. The orchestra also has string instruments. The strings make up the majority of the ensemble. If you look closely, you can see the strings. This is what an orchestra looks like:
